GPT & FPT are very common term in garment & textile sector. Basically, GPT word most uses in garments industry & FPT term most uses in textile industry. GPT:
GPT stands “Garment Package Test” or “Garment Performance Test”. So, it is very common word in garments industry. In “Garment package Test” includes different types of testing parameter. Every buyer or customer has their own testing parameters. GPT test report is the production approval for vendor. So, they make sample for test & send to testing lab. Garment test proceed on only safety protocol for wearing cloth. There are common testing parameters in the following.
- Dimensional Stability to Washing.
- Appearance after Washing.
- Colorfastness to Home Laundering.
- Colorfastness to Crocking.
- Colorfastness to Light.
- PH value
- Fiber content.
Garment package test proceed on different third party or approved lab.

- Intertek.
FPT:
FPT stands “Fabric Package Test” or “Fabric Performance Test”. So, it is also very popular word in textile industry. “Fabric package Test” includes different types of testing parameters. Fabric test proceed on textile Mill. Textile mill cannot export fabric without testing. It is the approval for fabric production. Test proceeds on as per buyer requirement. Basically, fabric test depend as per fabric yarn, count, fiber content. If test fail then again need to be resubmit & take approval. On the other hand, buyer will not accept any failure report. FPT test proceed on approved testing lab.
